chocolate nut ballsChocolate Nut Balls

The nuts and dark chocolate add healthy antioxidants to this yummy treat.

Ingredients:

  • 2 ounces unsweetened (preferably dark)baking chocolate
  • 2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons of water
  • 1 cup date sugar
  • 1 1/2 cup chopped almonds, pecans, or walnuts

Directions:

In a small saucepan, melt chocolate, oil and water over medium heat.

Reduce heat to low, add date sugar. Cook for 3 minutes, stirring constantly.

Remove pan from heat and stir in chopped nuts.

Drop by the spoonful and roll into 24 balls on a dish. If desired, roll in additional chopped nuts. Let balls cool. Store in the refrigerator or freezer.

Makes 24 balls

Per ball:

  • 100 calories
  • 1 g protein
  • 8 g fat
  • 7 g carbohydrate
