Q:
I am a little confused and was hoping you could help me. I took a GTT last week and my level was 241 the first 2 hours, 174 the 3rd, and dropped to 50 the 4th. I was told I have hypoglycemia and technically I have Diabetes also. Is it possible to have both?

A:
In a sense, "yes," although we don't normally refer to having simultaneous diseases here. The most obvious first course is to fine-tune eating patterns before any considerations of medications. So often, with the right pattern, we see the high numbers move into normal ranges and the low numbers come up into safe ranges. Of course, increased physical activity is a plus. You should be able to manage things, particularly if you do not have other medically compounding conditions.
