Q:
I had the c-peptide test done and my results were off the chart at 8.2. I know this means my pancreas is working over-time. Does this mean that I will be a diabetic down the road? I am over-weight and my father is type 2. What are my chances of becoming diabetic ?
A:
Anytime there is an abnormality in pancreatic functioning and there is a strong genetic component, the chances of developing diabetes increases. I do trust that you are now focusing on lifestyle changes. It is not a given that you must develop diabetes, but it is now clear that you must pay close attention to what you eat and drink, and how you manage your day.
