Q:
If your fasting blood sugar is 126 in the morning before you eat or drink anything does that mean you are a pre-diabietic? My husband is type 2 and I have been feeling tired alot lately so I decided to take my blood sugar test and I read that over 100 for fasting blood sugar was a sign for pre-diabetic.

A:
Your fasting blood sugars of 126 would be a diagnosis of diabetes. Pre-diabetes is now designated at fasting levels of 100. This new level was determined because by the time many people reached the "old" fasting levels of 140 and were diagnosed with diabetes, they were already showing signs of complications. Now is certainly the time for you to be serious about your lifestyle to get blood sugars and any other emerging imbalances under control
