Q:
I recently went in for a routine physical, that my chiropractor performed, he gave me a urine test and said he found sugar and a trace of protein. 20 minutes prior I drank two energy drinks packed with b vitamins and sugar and a bunch of candy. Will that make any difference in the test results?

A:
Urine testing is not the most reliable form of glucose testing. If it were, many fingers out there would be much happier. Yes, whatever you ate/drank just prior to the test would show up. I would suggest you arrange for a laboratory fasting screen to get a more precise reading on both your sugar and your protein.
