Q:
W hat is the normal blood sugar reading for a 51 year old female with heart disease and cardiomyapathy? My Dr. told me not to go over 200. What do you think? I am on several medications.

A:
If you are speaking about fasting blood sugars, we generally say around 120 is a good number. Anything lower than that when on cardio medications may invite arrhythmias. A range for the entire day may be 120-180. Clarify with your physician the entire day's range and be specifically clear about fasting levels.
