Q:

Is natural sugar better for you than the other sugar and where can I buy natural sugar. I have been buying raw sugar thinking it was natural sugar.

A:

In terms of impact on diabetes, most sugars are the same. In this case, we're talking about cane sugar, and other than the sugar cane stalk, it will raise blood sugars about the same. For people using sugar, unrefined, found in health food type stores, has minerals remaining. Much of the "raw sugar" packs you see in restaurants are just a step or two away from refined sugar. The major difference is in taste. For some more acceptable alternatives, try Stevia or Splenda. Fructose, a slower metabolizer, unfortunately can affect your blood lipids.
