Dear Family and Friends,
Diabetes is one of the most common and serious chronic diseases in the United States. The incidence of both type 1 and type 2 diabetes is rapidly increasing. 26 million Americans have diabetes, and 1 million more are diagnosed every year. This includes 15,000 children who are diagnosed with type 1 diabetes each year.
Most of you know that my sister, Gail passed away 12 years ago from this horrible & debilitating disease. She struggled every day with what this illness did to her body. It robbed her of her eyesight, her limbs, her kidney's, and ultimately her life. What it didn't rob was her strength, determination and courage. All of these qualities are the tools I will use when I run the Bank of America Chicago Marathon this October in her memory. I have also taken on the added challenge of raising money for vital diabetes research. I want to help find a cure, I want to help so that others won't go through the pain my sister did. Please support me in my efforts to run 26.2 miles for a cause that means so much to me.
You can help!
All of the money I raise for the Diabetes Action Research and Education Foundation will fund research to prevent, treat, and cure diabetes. Every dollar counts so please donate what you can. Together, we can make a difference.
Thanks so much for your support and encouragement!
I run because I can, I run to honor my hero, I run to find a cure!
