Fundraising Honor Roll
Dear Friends and Family,
On October 12th, I will be running in my first ever marathon in Chicago! This marathon is a building block towards my 2015 goal of Ironman Arizona. For this marathon, I have also taken on the added challenge of raising money for vital diabetes research for the Diabetes Action Research and Education Foundation.
As a person living with Type 1 Diabetes, I know that maintaining an active lifestyle is the best way that I can stay healthy and free of the diabetes complications that threaten all of us living with diabetes. Running a marathon can be challenging for anyone. However, having diabetes poses additional challenges when it comes to balancing carbohydrates and insulin with activity.
Diabetes is one of the most common and serious chronic diseases in the United States. The incidence of both type 1 and type 2 diabetes is rapidly increasing. 26 million Americans have diabetes, and 1 million more are diagnosed every year. This includes 15,000 children who are diagnosed with type 1 diabetes each year.
You can help!
All of the money I raise for the Diabetes Action Research and Education Foundation will fund research to prevent, treat, and cure diabetes. Please donate $100, $75, $50, $26.20 or any amount to help me reach my fundraising goal of $1000.00. Every dollar counts. Thank you for supporting me in my efforts to run 26.2 miles for a cause that affects me every minute of every day.
Together, we can make a difference.
