Fundraising Honor Roll

On August 23, 2010 God called my brother John (Junie) Anthony Jr. home after sharing him with us for 39 years.  Many of the complications that lead to my brother's untimely passing are still unknown to this day but what was clear was that tomorrow isn't promised to any of us. I began to understand that if I wanted to make it to see 40 I needed to make not only some physical lifestyle changes, but some emotional and spiritual changes as well.  I began running at first to lose weight but it became a tool to communicate personally with God.  The unknown road and the challenge of pushing beyond limitations offered therapy for a grieving soul.  That soul on October 12, 2012 experienced the joy of receiving God's Promise when my son Jonathan Josiah Anthony was born. This journey from the sting of death to the joy of birth was critical in the growth needed to make me the man I am today.

As a symbol of that 26 month pilgrimage I will be running 26.2 miles in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon on October 12, 2014 as a birthday present to my son Jonathan from his Uncle Junie.  And in true John Anthony fashion we will help others in the process.  Diabetes is one of the most common and serious chronic diseases in the United States. The incidence of both type 1 and type 2 diabetes is rapidly increasing. 26 million Americans have diabetes, and 1 million more are diagnosed every year. This includes 15,000 children who are diagnosed with type 1 diabetes each year.

You can help!

For Jonathan's birthday present I have pledge to raise $1000 to go toward the prevention and treatment of diabetes through the Diabetes Action Team.  All of the money I raise for the Diabetes Action Research and Education Foundation will fund research to prevent, treat, and cure diabetes. Every dollar counts so please donate what you can. Together, we can make a difference.

Thanks so much for your support and encouragement!
