Fundraising Honor Roll

Dear Family and Friends,

This October I will be running in the Marine Corps Marathon in honor of my son, Alexander Larrieu, and niece, Vivian. As you probably know my eight-year-old son, Alexander was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when he was 4½ years old.  Additionally, my niece Vivian was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when she was 6 years old.

Diabetes is one of the most common and serious chronic diseases in the United States. The incidence of both type 1 and type 2 diabetes is rapidly increasing.   Twenty Six million Americans have diabetes, and 1 million more are diagnosed every year including 15,000 children who are diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes.  Children with Type 1 Diabetes face a lifetime of painful injections, finger pricks, and other potentially life threatening long-term complications.  Additionally, having young children with Type 1 diabetes is very hard on the family. As a parent of a Type 1 diabetic, you must carefully watch your child’s diet and are constantly worried about blood sugar levels.

Therefore, as an added challenge to preparing for the Marathon, I am raising money for vital diabetes research. I have an aggressive goal and hope to make a real impact.  All of the money I raise for the Diabetes Action Research and Education Foundation will fund research to prevent, treat, and cure diabetes.

Please support me in my efforts to run 26.2 miles for a cause that means so much to me.  Every dollar counts so please donate what you can. Together, we can make a difference.

Thanks so much for your support and encouragement!
