Dear Family and Friends,
This October I will be running in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. I have also taken on the added challenge of raising money for vital diabetes research. Please support me in my efforts to run 26.2 miles for a cause that means so much to me.
Diabetes is one of the most common and serious chronic diseases in the United States. The incidence of both type 1 and type 2 diabetes is rapidly increasing. 26 million Americans have diabetes, and 1 million more are diagnosed every year. This includes 15,000 children who are diagnosed with type 1 diabetes each year.
You can help!
All of the money I raise for the Diabetes Action Research and Education Foundation will fund research to prevent, treat, and cure diabetes. Every dollar counts so please donate what you can. Together, we can make a difference.
Thanks so much for your support and encouragement!
My Personal Web Log
Meet Kelly and Eric...my inspiration for this run
Meet Kelly Land
I have known Kelly and her family since she was 18 months old. Kelly was diagnosed with Diabetes and placed on insulin at 3 years old. There have been many times in Kelly's life that she has had to fight hard because of Diabetes. Kelly was also diagnosed with Crohn's disease a few years ago and almost died. Kelly has had multiple surgeries and challenges, yet she never loses faith. She is an amazing young woman with a vibrant spirit and inspires many!
Meet Eric Zins
Eric is Sara's husband, who coincidently is Kelly' sister. Eric was also diagnosed with Diabetes as a child. My husband and I had the privilege of performing Eric and Sara's wedding a few years ago. It is so amazing to me that Sara grew up with a sister who had diabetes and then married someone with Diabetes. Some things are just meant to be!
Both Kelly and Eric are special people and I can't think of any better reason to run 26.2 miles!
